The Club has been using ClubRunner for a number of months now, especially the Events module for organising our events rosters.  However, this powerful system has much more to offer in the day-to-day administration of our Club.

We have been successfully deploying the Events module in ClubRunner for most of our events and this provides a means of keeping a single, central database of event rosters to which members can assign themselves.  Of course, with 4 out out of membership of 33 not having an email address, and presumably not having a access to a computer, it means that not everyone can use the system but these members can have the event coordinator add their name to a roster on their behalf.

The advantage of using ClubRunner for events  is that we maintain one version of a roster, albeit one that can, and does, change over time as members book (or un-book) themselves onto rosters. On big advantage of this event booking system is that a member can easily see what dates / timeslots are available on a roster.

If you are reading this on your computer then you are aware that stories and news items entered in ClubRunner (and therefore usually viewable on the Club website's Home page) are also reproduced in the online e-Bulletin.  These stories can be updated, changed, added to or deleted at any time so the therefore the Bulletin is effectively a dynamic news sheet that can, and does, change daily. As the Editor, I can select which news items and stories are to be included in the Bulletin and as such I try to keep the stories up to date and relevant.  In this regard, the Bulletin can be read at any time much like an online, daily newspaper and you do not have to rely on a monthly distribution of a paper-based Bulletin.  This means that the viewable content is more up to date.

Therefore, you might ask  - "Why do you get a monthly Bulletin emailed to you"?  Firstly, the emailed Bulletin is exactly the same as what you can view online with content the same as it is at that point in time.  Emailing it to you merely serves to bring it to your notice and to others outside the Club who regularly receive the Bulletin.  Importantly, I can also print this Bulletin in hard copy form for those without a computer. Members are therefore encouraged to go online at least once per week and view any new stories or news items.

ClubRunner  is also used to store and recover important Club information and documents. Some information is available to the general public via our website (www.rotaryclubofportfairy.org) and some is for members only requiring members to login into ClubRunner in order to view this information. In this way, we control what is for public viewing and what is for member only access.  Some member only information stored in ClubRunner is the summaries of Board meetings, financial reports, member birthday listings etc.

If a member want to see a list of member birthdays or download a hard copy then after a logging into ClubRunner a member can click on the Site Pages options at the top left of the Home page.  Click on the Birthdays and Anniversaries link.
