It was a big weekend for a small town when the Rotary District 9780 Conference 2022 was held in Port Fairy on 18-20 March. Over a hundred delegates attended with more following the Conference proceedings on line.
District Governor John Clue said that the Conference was a great event and he had received complimentary feedback from Rotarians across the District for the way it was run, the quality of the speakers, the Conference Dinner and the Welcome function. Several visiting Rotarians said it was a memorable and motivating conference that reinforced the Conference theme of Resilience, Renewal and Regeneration
The Friday night Welcome was a great opportunity to catch up with Rotarians who hadn’t been able to meet face to face for some time. Entertainment was provided by a string quartet, who provided a stimulating background.

On Saturday the focus moved to the Reardon Theatre where a series of speakers gave presentations on a wide range of topics, including surgeries for young women in Nepal (by Louise Harper) and the story of the survival of a young woman subject to domestic violence (by Simone O'Brien).

On Saturday night the conference dinner was at the Oak & Anchor Hotel. It provided an opportunity for fellowship with entertainment provided by local jazz band The Silvers Gold. A raffle raised $1750 in support of flood victims in NSW and Queensland.
The Conference concluded with a video presentation from Rotary International Director Jessie Harman. She provided inspiration to Rotarians with a message centred on meeting the expectations of our communities and achieving ongoing growth of Rotary through continued change.
