Port Fairy Rotary Club held its second annual golf day on April 26 at the spectacular Port Fairy golf course.  The number of participating teams was well up on last year as players battled the challenge of a very windy day.

Nearly $6000 was raised for the cause, Lift the Lid.  Lift the Lid on Mental Illness is Australian Rotary Health’s National annual fundraiser for mental health research.  Each year approximately 1-in-5 Australians will experience a mental illness.  Lift the Lid funds research to find out how to prevent this type of illness occurring.

The event was won by a team sponsored by the Bendigo Bank with an exceptional score for the conditions.  Second place was taken by a team from Port Fairy.

The day attracted 48 players in 12 teams with first place going to the Bendigo Bank team.

Winning team (L to R) Kevin Leddin, David Green, Peter Langley and John Rahilly

Second-placed team (L to R) Wally Sheehan, Dick Barr, Peter Robertson and Gerard Gleeson

The day included an excellent BBQ meal and an auction of donated goods and services.
