John Clue was inducted as the new President of the Rotary Club of Port Fairy at the Club's Changeover Dinner held at the Star of the West Hotel on Monday 7th July 2014.

 

The induction was carried out by the new  Rotary District 9780 Governor, Geoff James, who attended the dinner with his wife, Meryl.

John Clue, who took over the presidency from Hester Woodrup, introduced his new board members to the meeting who will help John to administer the Club in 2014-15.  After receiving the badge and chain of office John outlined his vision for the future for the Rotary Club which is to expand on the good work carried out in 2013-14.  He also pledged to raise fund to support the development of the Port Fairy Hospital.

The evening began with the delivery of the Annual Report for 2013-14 by outgoing President, Hester Woodrup, followed by a special ceremony to mark the birthday of the Club's oldest member, Colwyn Martin who had turned 100 on 30th June. The Rotary Club also arranged for a special presentation to Col (by DG Geoff James) of a Paul Harris Fellowship Sapphire pin which is an extension of the PHF award he received in 2009.

The evening was attended by 60 Rotarians and guests including the Mayor, James Purcell and his wife Robyn, District Governor, Geoff James and his wife, Meryl, the CEO of Moyne Health, David Lee, the President of the Lions Club of Port Fairy-Belfast, Peter Down, and his wife Gail, the new Assistant Governor (D9780), Janey Preston  and her husband Rotarian Chris Preston, Past Assistant Governor, Judy Ross, and various other guests from the neighbouring Rotary Clubs of Mortlake, Warrnambool, Warrnambool East, Portland, Portland Bay and Terang.  In addition we had some former, and now honorary, members of the Club attend the dinner.
