At the Changeover Dinner held 25th June Margaret Whitehead was installed as the new President of the Rotary Club of Port Fairy when the baton for running the Club was passed over from out-going President, John Ellard.  While this is Margaret's first term as President, having joined the Club some three years ago, she brings to the job a great deal of experience in serving many community organisations during a lifetime in Port Fairy.
Her more recent community work includes Secretary of the Pallisters Reserve Committee, volunteer coordinator for the Folk Festival Committee and President of the Friends of Moyneyana House group.

Although by her own admission, she still has a lot to learn about  Rotary she is keen to foster the good work that the Club already does in the community and to raise funds for many worthwhile causes both within and outside the district and particularly wants to raise funds during her term as President towards the purchase of another Shelter Box that will be used to aid disaster victims.

Margaret was please to introduce her executive members for Rotary year 2012/13 which includes four members who have not previously served in an executive capacity with the Rotary Club.  The full board includes:
  • Immediate Past-President, John Ellard
  • Vice-President & President Elect, Brendan Donahoo
  • Secretary, Harry Bracegirdle
  • Treasurer,  Adrian Crosier
  • Director of Membership, Youth & Public Affairs, Margaret Broers
  • Director of Service Projects,  Brett Murray
ImageThe Changeover Dinner was held at the Star of the West Hotel in Port Fairy and was attended by 74 members and guests, including District Governor Brian Trenery, Assistant District Governor Judy Ross, Cr. Mick Wolfe from the Moyne Shire Council together with representatives from other Rotary clubs in the region, the Lions Club of Port Fairy-Belfast, The Port Fairy Men's Shed, Moyne Health Services, the Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee, Probus Club of Port Fairy and the Consolidated School in Port Fairy.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of cheques to the coordinator of the Warrnambool Rotary House Project Andrew Sugget.  Cheques totalling some $32,000 were presented by the Port Fairy Rotary Club, Port Fairy Police, Port Fairy Folk Festival and the Lions Club of Port Fairy-Belfast - all of which have assisted the local Club in raising awareness and much needed funds towards this very worthwhile project.
