Time is rushing by.  Membership Month is coming to an end. We were fortunate to have inducted Michael Crowe into our Club during August.  We welcome Michael and Michele to our Club.  I hope that they both enjoy the Rotary experience.

Re membership – we must continue to work on improving our membership numbers, but also work towards keeping our Club relevant, provide a welcoming environment and most of all enjoy the experience.  If we do this we will at least retain present members.  In the recent District Governor’s Newsletter, Libby Furner wrote “No formula for membership growth will work without effort.”

We have a busy month ahead.  I urge Rotary members and their partners to come along to our meeting on the 3rd September to meet the District Governor Helen Trigg and her husband Richard.  Both are members of the Ocean Grove Rotary Club.

September is New Generations Month.  We are excited that we have had our nomination for the National Youth Science Forum, Emily Crowe, accepted.  Emily will spend a week in Canberra next February.  Hopefully this year we can also find some local young people to attend RYPEN and RYLA.

I urge members to take time and learn more about Rotary by exploring the Rotary International website www.rotary.org . Also read the Rotary Down Under magazine and see what other Clubs are doing in Australia and New Zealand.  Learn more about your own club by visiting our website.  Harry does a wonderful job keeping our website updated so have a look from time to time at the pictures and stories posted there.  It is a great tool for the members to keep in touch.  If you need more lessons on using ClubRunner then let us know.
