Hello Rotarians,

February seemed to disappear in front of our eyes.  Hester Woodrup attended PETS (President Elect Training) in Ballarat this weekend.  My term will soon finish and Hester will take over.

We had an enjoyable and profitable time with the Recreational Vehicle Fellowship of Rotary visitors.  For those members who did not attend the joint meeting, this group would have spent a minimum of $30,000 in the town for the 5 days of their visit. Their visit also enabled our Club to raise some funds from the BBQ we ran for them during their stay.

Those who attended the Trivia Night last week had a great time.  The night was well supported by district Rotary Clubs with Portland taking home the prizes.  Well done Harry and his team for their efforts.

The town is a buzz preparing for the Folk Festival.  For most groups in town who take advantage of all the visitors, this means an increase in available funds.  The Folk Festival supports many groups including the Rotary Clubs of Port Fairy, Warrnambool and Warrnambool East.

For months I have been working with the four Warrnambool Clubs to organize the Peace Concert at the Lighthouse Theatre.  This week (on Thursday night) all our efforts will be realized with a star studded line up for patrons to enjoy. Bookings are good and although our original aim was to merely spread the word on peace, we look like making a considerable profit which will be used towards funding Rotary Peace scholarships.

March is Rotary Literacy Month.  We already have a program of books for new babies in the town.  Diana Bracegirdle is looking after this program.  We also recently funded some books at the local kindergarten.

Enjoy this busy month in Port Fairy with family and friends.
