Another month through my year. Isn’t the year flying?

In October we highlighted Vocational Service Month.  During the month we had talks from Michael Crowe, John Ellard and Jeff McLean on their various work experiences.

Anthony Brady from the Moyne Gazette was selected by members to receive our Pride of Workmanship Award for 2012.  Anthony is very supportive of groups in Port Fairy, always giving all their activities good coverage. Rotary is no exception and we appreciate his support.  The Rotary Clubs of Warrnambool are envious of the coverage we get as they pay $200 to have a column printed in The Standard.

November is The Rotary Foundation Month. The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Foundation allows our club to participate in and contribute to programs that make a difference in the lives of people around the world. “Doing good in the world”. The most notable program is End Polio Now.

Next week on our fund raising calendar is our Fashion Parade.  This will be held at the Port Fairy Golf Club on Wednesday 14th November at 7.30pm.  This is a fun night as well as being a major fund raiser (for little effort).  Please encourage friends to attend.

We have a joint meeting with the Warrnambool Rotary Club on Tuesday 27th November and I ask you all to support this night and enjoy fellowship with a wider group of Rotarians.  The meeting will take place at St Brigid’s Hall and Church at Crossley.  Cost is $20 per head with drinks available.  Friends and partners are welcome to join us.  As this is catered for bookings will need to be made prior to the event.  Note that we will not meet on Monday 26th November.

Another fund raiser is planned for Saturday 1st December at 38 Albert Road, Port Fairy.  This will be a High Tea to raise funds for a Shelter Box.  Cost of the High Tea will be $30 per head and numbers are limited so bookings are essential.  Great idea for a Christmas treat.

Our busy time with raffle sales is upon us, so I thank members for their efforts to fill the rosters.
