The Rotary Club of Port Fairy has secured funding from local wind farm operator, Pacific Hydro under the Sustainable Communities Fund Grants for 2012.

Funding of $4,000 has been provided to help furnish a room at the soon to be built Rotary House in Warrnambool.
The Club applied for the full funding of a room, which was estimated at $8,000, but was nevertheless grateful for the generous support provided by Pacific Hydro that has a long history of providing community support in the Codrington - Yambuk region.

The Club received the cheque from Pacific Hydro at an presentation ceremony held 16th August at Port Fairy's  Victoria Hotel and was one of 13 projects supported for 2012.  The Board will now assess how it might raise the additional $4,000 to supplement the Pacific Hydro grant that will be required to fully furnish a room at Rotary House. Hopefully, a second grant application - recently submitted to the South West Community Foundation for $2,000 - will be successful leaving the Club to raise the other $2,000 by general fundraising.

Rotary House will provide emergency accommodation to people from the more remote areas in the South West region who have to attend for hospital treatment in one of the Warrnambool hospitals.  In all, there will be twelve, fully self-contained rooms that will provide overnight accommodation for patients and family members.
