The Rotary Club of Port Fairy is currently engaged in a project to collect second hand shoes for the Mto Wambu village in Tanzania.

The project is part of a larger program in support for local Port Fairy identity, Seif Sakate pictured below with his son.  Seif, who grew up in the village in the Arusha region of Tanzania, is collecting shoes to help the youth in the village who have to trek over 8 Kms each day to school and back.

If you have any youth’s or children’s shoes that have been outgrown or are not needed any more perhaps you could think about donating them?  Collection bins have been left at both of the Port Fairy primary schools as wel las the Moyne Shire Community Kindergarten.

The Rotary Club will arrange pick-up from the collection boxes and, with Seif’s assistance, will ship the shoes to Tanzania in early 2015.
